bird feeder
i've been wanting a bird feeder recently. today we found one on clearance for $5. it's not the most original or anything, but i like it!

john made this extension to hang it off our porch. located right outside our dining room, so we (cat included) can enjoy watching all the birds that will hopefully find our feeder!

praises
John got the job!!!
YAY! AMEN. THANK YOU LORD! and thank YOU for all your prayers! We are both very excited for this new opportunity.
For those of you who don't know the details...John has been working part time at Box Elder County and part time at a scrapbooking warehouse. We have been praying for a long time that he would have a chance to step up in rank. He applied for a new position at the county in January and was offered the job on Monday!
He will be a cadastral mapper, working for both the recorder and surveyor offices. Full-time. He starts on Valentine's Day.
I am so proud of him...sticking out the wait and being rewarded for it. I am so grateful to the Lord for this gift and direction in John's life!

#1 A recent picture of you and 15 interesting facts
Well...see the picture to the right...it was taken in December, i think!
1. I do not like hot beverages. (I wish I did! Especially on cold winter days.) And in most cases, I don’t like the cold counterpart either – hot chocolate, chocolate milk, hot or cold tea, etc.
2. When I am cooking alone at home I tend to talk to myself, or rather, the invisible audience that is watching me. Weird, I know…but it fulfills one of those childhood dreams of being on a cooking show!
3. Six months ago I learned how to drive a manual. John tried teaching me many years ago in a different vehicle and I just couldn’t get the hang of it…now I prefer driving manual over automatic (for now at least)!
4. I like to use exclamation points! (if you haven’t noticed) Periods just seem so solemn. For example…hi. vs hi! I prefer the extra emphasis over the unknown emotion of (.)
5. I love to get my hair cut. To have someone massage my head and then proceed to play with my hair for the next half hour is wonderful! I’m pretty sure this is why my hair stays short and does not ever reach my desired length.
6. I am seriously far too picky about decorating/organizing/arranging (my house, cubicle, just about anywhere). I move things and inch to the left, to the right, up, down, over…stare at it…and move it again. In the end I try to remind myself that no one looks at it as closely as I do so an inch usually doesn’t matter!
7. I have rediscovered reading!
8. Music is essential. To clean the house, for road trips, for healing, for health. Personally – for worship. I am in awe of those with raw talent, those who can pick up an instrument and just create music with little or no practice. I enjoy a variety of music and thanks to a close friend, have recently learned to appreciate Christian Hip Hop – the way it can relay truth like no other music can.
9. My favorite sandwich is a crab and avocado, with tomato and sprouts, from Tasty’s. And yes! I am patient enough to eat fresh crab – it’s my favorite!
10. I have been with John for almost 11 years! Wow…I definitely don’t feel old enough to say that. We dated for four and have been married six and a half. We are each other’s only significant other, ever– no history, no baggage – and I am so grateful for that. I find something new to love about him all the time and I cannot imagine life without my other half!
11. I have a phobia of vomit – other people, myself, on tv…anything that has to do with it. If you know me at all you know that I will do anything to avoid (close my eyes, cover my ears, turn around, walk away, RUN away, drive away in one instance). I especially struggle with sick kids; the poor things just have no control. It’s not their fault…I know, but it doesn’t make it any easier. I trust that the Lord will give me the strength when I have my own children not to turn and run, leaving them alone when they need me most!
12. The older I get the greater appreciation I have for simple things, things of nature. Watching a bird fly (especially the big ones), basking in the sun, watching the sun rise and set, the rain and a cool breeze. Things I take for granted, things that are a gift from our Creator.
13. There are things that stand out to me – mostly random food– that I cannot come across without thinking of my dad. A few of them being chick-o-sticks, boiled peanuts, crab, anything golf, peanut butter cookies, corn on the cob, roller skating, Frisbee, etc…it’s always fun to share those things with him. I wonder what things (or food!) people will associate with me in the years to come?
14. I used to want a chinchilla as a pet when I was younger…now my sister has one! Any good name suggestions for her??
15. I don’t have a career in art/graphic design, like I thought I would. I wish I would have gone
for it – I know I would have enjoyed it more. People tell me I should have all the time. At this point, I don’t really have a desire to go back to school, finish my degree. I have other goals and aspirations instead. I still do projects on the side, which keep me challenging my artistic half!
