today's events

CONNIE HAD THE BABIES!! I don't know many details at all, we just got the news that everyone is well...more details to come...

--------

SNOW. It snowed today, it didn't stick (except for on the mountains), but it snowed. Not yet, not quite ready for the white and fluffy!

--------

Thankful for God's grace and mercy in my life. He is good, He is faithful, He loves me. WOW.

new additions...

in two days, connie, my sister-in-law will be giving birth to TWO new babies. please pray for her as she prepares for and recovers from the C-section, as the whole family adjusts to having two more in the mix and all the details they need to take care of before coming back to the states in december.

for those of you who don't know, chuck and connie live overseas with their two little girls, anjali and asha and the twins {names to be determined}, one boy and one girl. they are traveling back to utah for the holidays and have quite a bit of paperwork to get done for the twins and themselves before they can come. it is a tight squeeze as far as the time crunch and will be a new experience traveling with four little ones through the city and the airports.

please pray for them! we are so excited for them to visit and can't wait to hold all of the kids in our arms when they get here.

{pictures of the twins will be posted as soon as we get them}

park city

this weekend we went to park city overnight with our friends, steve and yvonne. von found a great deal for a two-bedroom suite at the escala lodge, a part of the canyons resort. this place was amazing! the amenities of the room were awesome, it felt like we were in someone's home, not a hotel! [kitchen, dining room, two master bedrooms, three balconies, washer/dryer and a comfy couch]

it was great to get away for the weekend, have a lot of laughs, soak in the hot tubs and experience a steam room and sauna for the first time. check this place out!

so...when we were settling down to watch a movie, yvonne said we should pull out the bed in the couch and lay on it to watch. john called dibs on the end next to the back of the couch and proceeded to lie down. then, all of the sudden, the bed popped up and then down and john was gone!!

he totally fell under the couch! it was hilarious and quite a feat to get him out. we ended up having to lift the couch up so he could army crawl out :)

we also spent quite a bit of time in the hot tub. john and steve sported the robes just for fun!

we shopped at the outlets and found some great bargians, went to the theater and watched RED, got caramel apples at the chocolate factory, played games and just enjoyed ourselves!

fall decor

i LOVE fall! it is my favorite season. cool days [some of them rainy], falling leaves, all my favorite colors.

i bought decorations, live decorations for the house. only $10, i do realize that i have to throw them away in the end, but it's nice to have a little fresh on the table.

i also made a wreath. $3.50 at wal-mart for the grapevine wreath with decorations that i can change out for the season. simple, i know. usually i am not very good with bows, but i'm pleased with how this one turned out :)

small group recap

worship is a response, a reaction.

not words, thoughts or actions that i dig down deep to find and produce. not something i do because i have to, not a box to check off my daily to do list. not a face i can put on and wear around for a couple of hours on sunday. not something i muster up and do in my own strength.

worship is a response, a reaction to God's grace, mercy, love, kindness, patience, etc. a grateful recognition of who He is, the sacrifice of His son - Jesus, and the salvation He alone offers.

i was created to worship - in everything - responding to the blessings and promises the Lord has given me. why would i want to do anything else? why is it so hard to be consistent?

i will give you all my worship, i will give you all my praise,
you alone, i long to worship, you alone are worthy of my praise...

bb guns and fish hooks

(sounds like a country song someone should write...or may have already written)

john, becky, marcus and i went to the cabin last weekend. one final trip up there for the year to shut everything off and close it up for the winter. i was hoping it would be a tad bit warmer than it was, warm enough to sit on the porch, read and listen to the wind rustle through the trees - but it was in the 40's and a little wet - so we played games, read, napped, went fishing and kept warm inside instead. God is so good to give rest.

a different kind of work

I am looking forward to [or maybe longing for] the day when my work, my time and energy can be spent doing more meaningful things. When I can wake up in the morning and enjoy spending my days accomplishing good things, things that matter, things that make a difference, things that mean something…not just paycheck work, in a cubicle, dealing with worthless numbers.

Now, I’m not saying I don’t like my job, because most days I do…and in the Bible God commands us to work, He created work, He created us for work. I am simply desiring to do a different kind of work. Something along the lines of kingdom work (hopefully something I’m already doing), house work, volunteer work, crafty work, kid work (one day, that is), yard work, even an occasional paycheck job [just less of one than I have now!]. a woman's work...right?! ha.

That’s just how I feel today anyway…maybe that’s because I have so much to do at home and I have wasted the day away in my cube! But seriously…it would be nice!

{when the Lord is ready for me to make that change, IF He allows, you better believe I will be jumping on that boat like nobody’s business}
