the dentist, oh, the dentist. i experienced more pain yesterday from getting a soft spot (not a cavity) filled on my back tooth then i did from getting my wisdom teeth out! i didn't feel a thing during the procedure, thankfully, they numbed me up pretty well. {i was not fully 'feeling' anything until 4:30 and my appointment was at 8:30 in the morning} when i did start to get feeling back it was the spot in my cheek where the numbing shot was inserted that hurt so bad...like, almost crying bad! so for the first time in a LONG time i took some tylenol and that helped slightly. let's just say i'm glad this doesn't happen very often! [now if i can just get john to go...]
speaking of john...yesterday at work {Box Elder County job} he got to ride 4 wheelers all day up a mountain and back down. he was terribly dirty by the end, but saw beautiful views. pictures to come...
________
tonight we start our first small group study at our house! i have been impatiently looking forward to this. we are following the layout of the small group we were involved with in SC and hope that everyone is blessed by it. praying, eating, discussing the sunday service topic in depth, singing and fellowshipping! i am so thankful for the opportunity have this accountability again.

sweater weather
i am wearing a sweater today...yes! a sweater. i am fully aware it feels like the middle of summer outside, but in my little cubicle it is usually icy cold and we are only two days away from october, right?! [oh, and i suppose i should mention that my sweater is new - therefore i have really been wanting to wear it!]
here's the story of my sweater...
john and i went to shopko on saturday to price an indoor air matress. i don't usually shop there {i always hit my favs first...ross, target or kohls} but we heard they had a good deal, so we went to check it out. as you walk in the front door of shopko it opens up to the women's clothing section - so the first thing i see is:
90% OFF!
"i don't need it, we don't have time or the money" BUT who am i kidding...i can't pass up only paying 10% on a clothing item! so i naturally changed my course and headed for the sale rack. john graciously allowed me to browse for a while and he headed to the mens to see if they were offering the same deals. i bought six things...three of them sweaters for this winter (or today!) and three tank tops. $4 each!! [we got john a couple new shirts as well for only $7 and the air mattress for half off]
i love sales! i almost never buy anything full price...especially when it feels so good to save some cash!
-------
on another note, i am really looking forward to autumn - watching God's creation change into the warm firey tones, hearing the leaves crunch under my feet and wearing my sweaters and scarves in perfectly cool afternoons.

small house update
well, we have been working on the house [almost every spare moment] and it is coming along... slowly.
{i LOVE it}
better than i ever could have imagined. it is so wonderful to be able to put ideas and design to work that i have been mulling over for so long!
this is the living room, semi-before...

and after... (we still haven't moved the wood stove up into place, but will eventually do that before it gets cold. it will go right into the tiled area and the pictures on the ground have now found other homes.)

we also used the hot tub for the first time a few nights ago. again...I LOVE IT! it is so great to be able to relax and unwind after a busy day, in your own backyard...looking out over the valley, listening to the crickets, chatting with my man!

[more before and after pictures to come!]

labor day at the cabin
we went up the cabin for labor day weekend. i {LOVE} going up to the cabin. it is quiet and a place of true rest for me. i sat around most of the days reading and listening to the sounds of nature [my favorite is the wind whipping through the tree tops]. God never ceases to amaze me with the beauty of His creation and when i go to the cabin, i soak it up like a sponge.

becky and marcus came up for a couple of days!

{i coerced becky into playing her least favorite game..he, he}

like i mentioned, we spent most of the weekend reading.

tommy and angela also came up for a few days, it was great to have them there.

tommy and john decided to hike leady's peak...this is how far they went...

and this is how high they were!

we went for a sightseeing drive the last night and within about two miles we saw multiple deer, 3 elk and two moose [one of which started to charge the car] it is so neat to see wildlife! (unless it's a raccoon ducking under your front tire...which also happened on the way up)

i love this place and will take any opportunity to head back!

rest?!
blowing my nose has become all too familiar and repetitive today, my throat is sore and my head feels heavy. all the moving, camping and painting has worn me down and my body is yelling at me to TAKE A BREAK! my intentions are good (all the busy activities are proving successful and enjoyable) but i need rest. rest? ha!...who actually gets to do that these days?!
in the midst of all my craziness i keep reminding myself of the truths in psalm 16:8-11. in His presence there is joy, no matter what my days bring. He is a mighty Savior and i am secure in Him and because of that truth my days are full of rejoicing...for His glory alone and not my own.
I have set the Lord always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken. Therefore my heart is glad, and my whole being rejoices; my flesh also dwells secure. For You will not abandon my soul to Sheol, or let your holy one see corruption. You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasure forevermore.
REST in God's TRUTH...and live like crazy with His joy!! (don't forget to nap too, especially if you have the sniffles)

book club!
at work we have all been reading "the hunger games" series together and have really enjoyed discussing them (or not discussing them so we don't ruin the ending for anyone!) so yesterday at work we decided to start a book club. can i tell you how EXCITED i am!! those of you who know me, know i'm not really a reader, so my excitment may seem a little strange. but i really am excited!
i have discovered that i actually like reading...as long as it's a good book and i'm not too tired...and it will be one more fun monthly activity added to my calendar. it is open to anyone who wants to join, our first night will be on the 21st at my house...we will be discussing the hunger games (don't feel like you have to have read them to come, but it will probably be spoiled for you if you don't want to know what happens) and melanie will introduce the next book!
happy reading!

quick update!
i feel so disconnected (to the blogging/facebook world that is!). i'm missing posts and updates left and right...if you asked me, i wouldn't know what's going on with anybody! except for myself and the crazy changes that have been taking over our every spare moment.
let's see...we closed on the house on the 26th and got the keys on the 27th. as soon as we got the keys we were moving boxes over and getting ready to move in on saturday. back to thursday though...we gave sage to her new family. it was VERY hard to give her away, like losing a family member (i think), but we know it was for her best.
so friday night we did some moving, but mostly cleaning. saturday was an early morning to transport the cat over to the house, pick up the truck and start loading before 9:00. the whole process was all said and done by 11:00 and we were sitting in our new home eating pizza! we are SO THANKFUL for all the help we had that day, it couldn't have gone any smoother.
this week we have been unpacking, organizing and getting ready to paint (not to mention our regular weekly things that take up most of our evenings). on saturday we are heading up the cabin and will stay through wednesday. we will be back for the first night of awana, painting on thursday, friday and saturday and hopefully the house will be done by sunday. we are also adopting a new cat, Bumper, into the family (john's cousin's cat who needs a home). he will keep pumpkin company and have more room to roam! hopefully the transition goes smoothly...if so, i will post a couple pics!
anyway...one thing at a time...i am looking forward to a good couple days of rest, sleeping in, reading and fishing!
(i apologize for the lack of pictures...we will still be disconnected for the next week and a half from the internet, so tune back in soon and you can see this post in picture form!)
